Israel, a Perpetual Czechoslovakia

In 1938, Czechoslovakia possessed Sudetenland for valid historic and strategic reasons.  Two decades before, Austria-Hungary lost WWI and its territory was divided among the constituent nations.  Without the strategic mountains and the territorial buffer of Sudetenland, Czechoslovakia would not be able to defend itself against the aggressive, genocidal and many times more populous neighbors – Nazi Germany which has just united with Austria.  Czechoslovakia was surrounded from all sides by potential predators and in mortal danger.

At that time, Sudetenland was partly populated by a German minority which has been very vocal in its demand to dismember Czechoslovakia and unite Sudetenland with Nazi Germany.  The Nazis got their wish in Munich in 1938, when Britain and France betrayed Czechoslovakia and agreed to Sudetenland transfer to Germany.  Soon after that, the defenseless Czechoslovakia was occupied by the Nazis.  By appeasing them, the Munich’38 “peace agreement” enabled WWII and its horrific bloodbath, with 50 million dead.

If only had Czechoslovakia stonewalled its Western allies more, trusted them less and relied on its own strength, maybe none of this subsequent horror would have happened.  In this alternative history, the Czechoslovakian Government and a powerful Czechoslovakian lobby in the British Parliament would play the House of Commons against the House of Lords, and both against the treacherous Prime Minister Chamberlain in such way that the “peace process” would drag on for decades, constantly revealing the Nazis’ impatient genocidal intentions.

In this wishful-history Czechoslovakia’s better-trained, better-equipped and better-motivated army would defeat all of its surrounding real-history predators (Germany with Austria, Poland, Hungary and the USSR).  Czechoslovakian diaspora would have a firm grip on British and French politics and steer the West into resisting both National-Socialist and Communist flanks of anti-Western aggression.

In 2016, Israel possesses Judea and Samaria for valid historic and strategic reasons.  For many preceding decades, Arabs lost all their wars against it, and some territory.  Without the strategic mountains and the territorial buffer of Judea and Samaria, the only Jewish State would not be able to defend itself against the aggressive and genocidal neighbors – 50 Arab and Islamic States, 100 times more populous and with 1000 times more territory.  Israel is surrounded from all sides by potential predators and in mortal danger.

Judea and Samaria are partly populated by an Arab minority which has been very vocal in its demand to dismember Israel and cleanse Judea and Samaria of Jews, under an Arab rule.  The Arabs almost got their wish in a dozen would-be Munich’s since 1967.  The West tried incessantly to betray Israel and force it to transfer Judea and Samaria to the Arabs.  Soon after that, a defenseless Israel would be attacked.  By appeasing Arabs, the “peace agreement” would enable a great war and a horrific bloodbath, with maybe millions dead.

Luckily, Israel learned to stonewall its Western allies, trust them less and rely on its own strength, so none of this horror have actually happened.  In this real-history, the Israeli Government and a powerful Israel lobby in the US Congress influences the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the President in such way that the “peace process” drags on for decades, constantly revealing the Arabs’ impatient genocidal intentions and the meaninglessness of peace agreements.

In this real-history, Israel’s better-trained, better-equipped and better-motivated army defeated all of its surrounding predators: Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Libya and a few others, and contains Iran.  Israel has a firm grip on the US politics and steers the West into resisting both Arab National-Socialist and Islamist flanks of the anti-Western aggression.

A perpetual Czechoslovakia holding the Sudetenland defenses.
